What is DiLog?

DiLog combines an automated digital logbook with your personal travel diary. All important parameters of your voyage are recorded automatically while you can relax and focus on sailing.

Our digital logbook is even great fun! With photos, videos, and voice input, your sailing experiences stay vivid. This turns a tedious task into a real pleasure – even when reviewing past voyages.

Features

DiLog runs as a browser application on any device. Your data is securely stored in European data centers and accessible worldwide. Share your voyages live with family and friends!

Especially practical: You can also add long past voyages to your digital logbook and visualize them.

A digital logbook is so much more – it is the lasting memory of great voyages.

Comfortable

DiLog Connect App

The Connect App automatically scans your photos for matches to your trip. One click – and all images are assigned to the correct days. With the photos in front of you, you’ll surely recall the best stories.

Don’t feel like typing? Just speak! The voice input converts your words into text in seconds – perfect when you’re at the helm.

Now that’s what we call convenient.

NMEA Connect

Automatic Data Collection

NMEA Connect is our compact onboard device for your digital logbook. Simply connect it to your vessel’s NMEA 2000 bus – it will then automatically record all available data: position, course, speed, water depth, wind, and much more.

Even without an NMEA 2000 connection, the device works reliably and records the key data such as position, course, and speed thanks to built-in GPS and cellular – perfect for charter boats or vessels without a NMEA 2000 bus.

All data is securely stored onboard and additionally in the cloud. This way, you have access to your complete trip history at any time and can provide detailed proof if needed.

Highlight

Cloud Symbol

Unlike other ship logbook apps, the data archived this way is not stored on your mobile phone. Loss or damage to the mobile phone, careless device changes, all kinds of scenarios where your records could be lost. You also do not need to dive like with data loggers, because your data is safely stored in the cloud.

Microchip Symbol

Don't feel like typing, or are you at the helm with no free hand? Then switch to voice input. Start recording and begin speaking. Seconds later, your spoken text will appear transcribed on the corresponding day in your digital logbook. That's what we call convenient!

Position Symbol

DiLog searches for the nearest nautical relevant name based on your GPS position. Your location is displayed not only as latitude and longitude but also with respect to distance and direction from nautical objects. These can be, for example, lighthouses, harbors, marinas, buoys, and ferry docks. An example would be: "3 nm southwest Helgoland buoy O, North Sea"

Plug and Play Symbol

Easy installation. Connect the NMEA Connect Box to your boat’s NMEA 2000 bus. Create an account with DiLog. Done, from now on your digital logbook automatically records every ship movement. Updates run automatically in the background. Now you have access to the recorded tracks anytime via our app or web application.

Looking ahead…

We are happily continuously developing our digital logbook further. Here is a preview of some features currently in progress.

Weather:

If you want to visualize past trips but your old weather records are incomplete, Dilog finds the weather for the respective day and inserts it into your logbook.

Dilog as Owner Version:

As a boat owner, you want to manage receipts for expenses on maintenance, repairs, spare parts, new purchases, harbor fees, etc., in one central place. This central place also provides space for photo documentation of completed work on the boat, for your own memory or as proof for insurance. Additionally, this is the place for all manuals of your installed equipment, as well as all necessary boat documents. It's always good to have these documents with you while on the go.

Interfaces:

We are opening interfaces to additional NMEA data loggers. If you already have data loggers like the Actisense W2K-1 or the WIFI Gateway YDWG from Yacht Devices onboard, you will soon be able to transfer the data generated by them to Dilog and visualize it.

GPX Data Import:

With this, you can import recorded tracks, e.g., from Navionics, and add them to the matching trip.

FAQ

Why can't I see photos and voice entries even though I uploaded them for the selected day?

With some browser versions, I need to reload the page once after uploading these entries.

Why can't I see the location on the map for the specified date?

The necessary GPS information is obtained (if available) from our VDR black box. If you use our logbook without this, we access the metadata of the uploaded photos. If you have not uploaded any photos yet or photos without the necessary metadata, the position will be missing on the map.

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored securely and permanently encrypted in European data centers and is available to you worldwide.

What costs are incurred for usage?

In our new online shop, you will find all prices for the different account models, as well as for the required hardware.

Do I have to keep a logbook?

Terms like good seamanship or duty of care are used by some. Overregulation, hassle, are heard from others. There is uncertainty about whether a logbook must be kept on recreational boats at all. And if so, from which vessel size, in what form, and what should be included? One thing is certain: in the event of an accident or casualty, you will always have the worse position before the maritime court without a logbook. But insurance companies have also recently started to inquire more frequently about your logbook.

How can I add photos or videos?

You can now upload photos or videos from your media library for the corresponding date using the download icon.

It’s even more convenient with our DiLog Connect app; simply scan the QR code with your mobile phone to transfer suitable photos and videos from your media library to your logbook.

To scan the QR code, open your cruise in the logbook and tap the download button for a single day. You can then easily transfer your photos and videos from the media library to your digital logbook.

If you want to add already edited videos to your logbook, the easiest way is using the file selection.

What is NMEA Connect?

NMEA Connect is the interface to our Voyage Data Recorder ( VDR ) for pleasure boats. As soon as the vessel changes its position by a few meters, the VDR automatically records all data available in the NMEA network such as course, speed, position, water depth, wind strength - direction,... at freely definable time intervals.

About Us

We are an innovative startup dedicated passionately to the development and programming of software for recreational boating. Our story began with the unique combination of expertise and passion of two individuals: an experienced sailor and an enthusiastic programmer.

Our mission is to offer software solutions that meet the needs of the recreational boating community. We deliberately focus on areas where either no suitable solutions exist or the available options are financially unattractive for the average sailor.

What sets us apart from established brands is our openness to your ideas and wishes. We firmly believe that the best innovations emerge when sailors are actively involved in the development process. That’s why we are always open to feedback and suggestions from the community.

We place great value on our software being not only functional but also providing an outstanding user experience. Because we know that user-friendliness is crucial to encourage acceptance and use of our products.

Continuous innovation is at the core of our work. We strive to further develop our products and adapt them to changing needs and desires. Our goal is not just to offer a software solution but to build a long-term partnership with our customers based on trust, reliability, and excellent service.
